Drug discovery:

Research centres across Nanofactory have expertise in screening, assay development, medicinal and synthetic chemistry, chemoinformatics and computational chemistry. The Biomedical Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam have a state of the art mass spectrometry unit for proteomic analysis and Sheffield have two specialist small molecule screening units in the Centre for Developmental and Biomedical Genetics using zebrafish and drosophila, the centre has close links with the chemists at S3: Sheffield Synthesis Solutions.

Other centres of excellence include the York Structural Biology Laboratory, Sheffield Drug Discovery and Development Network, Leeds Biomedical Health and Research Centre and the Institute for Cancer Therapeutics at Bradford.

Drug delivery:

Across Nanofactory there are several research centres with expertise in developing delivery methods for new therapeutics. Current research in the area of drug delivery includes the development of targeted delivery, controlled release products, delivery solutions for poorly soluble drugs and polymer systems for drug and gene delivery. The Biopharmaceutical Formulation Group at Bradford specialise in providing state of the art analytical and development delivery solutions for biopharmaceuticals.

Other centres of excellence include The Centre of Pharmaceutical Innovation at Bradford, Sheffield’s Polymer Centre, Pharmaceutics Group at Huddersfield and the Centre for Pharmaceutical Engineering Science at Bradford.
